Summer’s here…how do you stay on your health journey?

The sun is blazing, the pool is open, the kids are out of school, vacations planned, and it is a time for BBQ’s and relaxation. Summertime can be difficult time to stay on track with your healthy lifestyle. So how can you keep you and your family on the healthy journey and still have a fun and amazing summer? I am going to give you some tips to try and stay on track!

Who does not love a good beach day or days at the pool? But it can be a challenge to stay on track with healthy eating.

First, make sure you have all the healthy snacks for you and the kids in the house. If you go to a friend’s place for the day, bring something for everyone to enjoy! Bring your own snacks and kids snacks so that if they have unhealthy snacks there you can stay on track. Who knows, maybe you will inspire others to choose healthier things too!

Whether you are keto, or just trying to keep your sugar intake low, bringing your own food can be easy. Try bringing a Charcuterie board with cheeses, grass-fed meats and nuts, salsa and low carb tortilla chips or a bowl of berries which are low sugar.

Making sure you and your family are not drinking sugar is super important too to stay on your healthy journey during the summer! It is easy to fall into the trap of buying these sugary drinks at the beach, at summer events, or at amusement parks. Your best option is to stick with water! Bring refillable water bottles wherever you are going. Staying hydrated is important all of the time and staying hydrated during the hot summer months is very important. You can keep packets of Tru Lemon drink mixes in your bag for a little added flavor. This is a great way to add a little flavor to your water, so it doesn’t get boring. Adding some lemon or cucumber slices can help that flavor too!

For those days that you are out all day at a park or the beach, try and prepare…pack your lunch! You can not only stay on track with your healthy eating, but you may be able to save some money-which we could all try and do now a days! Packing your lunch for you and your family can ensure you have clean, organic things that are low in sugar. If you each carbs, pack a sandwich with organic bread, organic chicken, organic lettuce and tomato. How easy?! If you are low carb or Keto, roll up some meat in cheese. Have some organic berries, maybe some watermelon slices, sliced cucumbers, nuts and low carb organic tortilla chips. Nuts are a great thing to throw in a snack bag for everyone too!

Make sure you are planning dinner for these days too! If the plan is to eat out, find a restaurant that everyone can have a healthy meal. If you are coming home for dinner, plan ahead and have something that is easy. Or you can make a double meal the day before so that you have leftovers! There are so many options!

Something fun to do for the kids, and even you with these hot days at home…make your own popsicles! This is a great way to do something fun with your kids and get them involved in making healthy treats! You can make popsicles many different ways. Make sure you have BPA free silicon popsicle molds (there are many options on Amazon). Here is a great quick recipe…

Strawberry Pops

~4 cups filtered water

~2 cups organic strawberries

~1/4 cup Monk fruit sweetener

~2 tbsp organic lemon juice

Blend this all up in your blender or Vitamix and pour into your molds. Put in the freezer until the pops are solid.

This recipe is a great way to have a cool treat, it is low sugar and Keto!

These tips can help you stick with this healthy journey we are all on! Planning ahead so that you can keep you and your family on track is so important. Having kids help make things during the summer months is also a great way to keep them involved and have them making healthy choices.

Take these tips and have fun! Have a fun beautiful summer making memories and enjoying every moment!
